Ability of a Set of Trunk Acceleration-Derived Gait Stability Indexes to Identify Gait Unbalance and Recurrent Fallers in Subjects With Parkinson’s Disease.

Stefano Filippo Castiglia

I am a research fellow at the Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences and Biotechnologies at “Sapienza” University of Rome, Italy. My research activity mainly focuses on the investigation of the gait behavior of subjects with Parkinson’s disease, cerebellar ataxia, and other movement disorders. For this purpose, our research group applies both optoelectronic motion analysis systems and advanced wearable and wireless technologies (sEMG and inertial measurement units).

As a physical therapist with expertise in neurorehabilitation, my clinical research focuses on the research of accurate and responsive biomarkers of gait disorders that can represent optimal outcomes for the planning of rehabilitation interventions aimed at reducing the risk of falling and improving gait in neurologic conditions.
