Pathophysiology of Motor Symptoms in Parkinson’s Disease: Role of Primary Motor Cortex

Matteo Bologna

Assistant Professor in Neurology at the Department of Department of Human Neurosciences Sapienza University of Rome.

Training

  • Sapienza University of Rome (Medical degree in 2003:
  • Residency in Neurology in 2009; Ph.D. in Experimental and Clinical Neuroscience in 2012;
  • Post-doc Research Fellow in Experimental and Clinical Neuroscience 2021 - 2016),
  • Sobell Department of Motor Neuroscience & Movement Disorders at the University College of London (Research Fellowship in 2008-2009).

Research activities on neurophysiological and clinical aspects related to the field of Movement Disorders, particularly on Parkinson’s disease and essential tremor. The research activity is conducted by combining non-invasive transcranial stimulation techniques (NIBS) and kinematic motion analysis in order to characterize and understand the pathophysiological mechanisms of Movement Disorders.

Invited for conferences and teaching at Italian and international meetings. Scientific production: author of more than 100 papers in international journals.
