Dear WFN Delegates, dear Member Societies,
We are pleased to provide you with an update on the site selection process for the World Congress of Neurology (WCN) 2028, which will take place in the European Region, in line with our congress rotation policy.
We want to thank all 7 cities expressing interest in the WCN 2028. Three cities were shortlisted. Following site visits to the three shortlisted cities — Budapest, Istanbul, and Copenhagen — and a comprehensive evaluation by our PCO, Kenes Group, we now invite you to review the findings and cast your vote to determine the host city.
All three destinations offer strong infrastructure and local support, with venues that meet the requirements for a successful WCN.
The analysis involves financial impacts (venue rental, estimated expenses, VAT impact, city or country support) and the quality of the venue: venue and suitability of the convention center, flexibility, transport and access, hotel availability, location in the city.

Budapest presented a modern, recently renovated, and spacious venue well suited to the needs of an international congress. However, its location outside the city center and limited nearby accommodation present some logistical challenges for delegates.
Istanbul offered two centrally located and well-maintained congress centers, with strong meeting infrastructures. However, the exhibition areas are significantly constrained in both, with limited space and access and structural limitations that may hinder optimal layout and visibility. The exhibition area is also the site of breaks, theaters, posters, and intensive communication, which are core needs for the WFN.
Copenhagen’s Bella Center stood out for its clear and functional layout, plentiful natural daylight, and direct connection to the headquarters hotel, offering strong logistical advantages for both organizers and attendees.
These impressions, along with the detailed cost and infrastructure analysis provided by Kenes, have informed our recommendation.
Based on the site visits and the data-driven Site Selection Report (see link above), the World Federation of Neurology, in consultation with Kenes Group, recommends Copenhagen as the preferred destination for WCN 2028.
We encourage you to review the attached Site Selection Report, which outlines the scoring methodology, key metrics, and overall ranking, and kindly request your vote on the final host city.
Thank you for your continued dedication to the success of our global congress.
