WFN 2026 Elections: Candidates

All candidates listed in alphabetical order.

  4-year term to take office from January 1st, 2027
  
  The position is currently held by Prof. Marianne de Visser, who was appointed by the Trustees as Acting Secretary General following the election of the previous Secretary General to the office of WFN President.

The original deadline to nominate candidates was Friday, April 17th, 2026. Late nominations are still possible:  

1. To nominate another individual—who must be a member of a WFN member society—the nominee must obtain the supporting signatures of five or more authorised WFN delegates, together with a CV and a letter of agreement to stand.
2. Additional nominations must be submitted to the Secretary General c/o the WFN headquarters at elections@wfneurology.org 
3. The deadline for additional nominations is Friday, 28 August 2026 [30 days prior to the start of electronic voting].

  Host venue for the 30th World Congress of Neurology (WCN 2029) 
  
  Further details on candidates will follow shortly.

Voting will take place by electronic voting (remote online ballot) between 28 September to 16 October, 2026.  

The voting results will be announced at the WFN Annual General Meeting of the Council of Delegates.
