WFN – The Turkish Neurological Society:  Department Visit Program- 2019

The World Federation of Neurology (WFN) and the Turkish Neurological Society are pleased to once again announce a partnership to invite four colleagues from Africa to visit the Istanbul University Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine, Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, Selcuk University Faculty of Medicine, and Ege University Faculty of Medicine Neurology Departments.

The Turkish Neurological Society (TNS) was founded in 1992.The aims of the society include contributing to the national and international awareness, diagnosis, and treatment of neurological diseases at the best possible standards. The Turkish Neurological Society is scientifically very active and has high standards of education.

The WFN was formed in Brussels in 1957 as an association of national neurological societies. Today the WFN represents 120 professional societies in all regions of the world. The mission of the WFN is to foster quality neurology and brain health worldwide, a goal we seek to achieve by promoting global neurological education and training, with the emphasis placed firmly on under-resourced parts of the world.

Project description

The Turkish Neurological Society supports the African initiative of the WFN by inviting four African colleagues to visit the Istanbul Cerrahpasa, Hacettepe, Selcuk and Ege University Departments of Neurology for a duration of four weeks. The purpose is to experience the Turkish neurological system in an international environment, meet new colleagues and foster future cooperation.

Timeframe

The visit will take place between 4 -29 November 2019

The four fellows will receive complimentary registration to attend the Turkish National Congress taking place from 16 - 21 November 2019, Antalya.

Details about support

The Turkish Neurological Society will provide the following support:

  • Travel expenses: Country of Residence – Turkey– Country of Residence
  • Accommodation for four weeks
  • Living expenses (food and beverage) during the four weeks
  • Costs of health insurance during the stay in Turkey

 

Criteria for applications

  • The applicant must be a resident of a low or lower-middle income country1 in the African continent
  • The applicant must be born after 31 December 1976
  • The applicant must be a qualified neurologist.
