This article reports a case of painful tic convulsif (concurrent trigeminal neuralgia and ipsilateral hemifacial spasm) successfully treated via microvascular decompression (MVD) of independent neurovascular conflicts involving the trigeminal and facial nerves. Accompanied by a literature review, the report emphasizes that single-session MVD targeting all responsible compression sites yields durable, symptom-free outcomes.

In a double-blind, placebo-controlled pilot study of 22 adults with normal cognition to mild cognitive impairment, 10 weeks of low-dose tesamorelin (GHRH analog) showed no direct significant overall changes in primary clinical measures. However, advanced machine learning models identified treatment-related structural and functional brain changes in cognitive regions such as the right anterior cingulate and left superior frontal occipital fasciculus.

This cross-sectional study investigated inflammatory lipid ratios (MHR and NHR) in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients. Although MHR demonstrated a weak positive correlation with stroke severity on univariate analysis, it was not an independent predictor in multivariate models, suggesting it may serve as an accessible, low-cost indicator rather than an independent prognostic factor.

Analyzing registry data from 13,569 acute ischemic stroke patients, this study found that higher admission HbA1c levels significantly correlated with a higher proportion of large artery atherosclerosis, a greater prevalence of brainstem lesions, and poorer overall functional outcomes at discharge.

In a single-case study of a 78-year-old woman with severe dysphagia following a dorsolateral medulla oblongata infarction (Wallenberg syndrome), 4 consecutive days of pharyngeal electrical stimulation (PES) via the Phagenyx® system led to significant recovery. Follow-up endoscopic evaluations demonstrated normal swallowing frequency, safe management of all tested consistencies, and a reduction in aspiration and secretion scores.
