The World Federation of Neurology is pleased to announce the appointments of Prof Riadh Gouider and Prof Marco Tulio Medina as co-opted Trustees for a one-year term covering the period from October 2022 to the next Council of Delegates meeting in October 2023.

Profs Medina and Gouider have both had many years of involvement with the World Federation of Neurology.

Wolfgang Grisold, President of the World Federation of Neurology, said that “Both Profs Gouider and Medina bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the WFN, especially in regards to regional WHO cooperation and in neurological education. The Trustees were unanimous in their decision to re-appoint each of them. In doing so, the WFN has not just regained active, competent, co-opted Trustees and continuity for the WFN leadership but also has ensured that all WFN regions are represented at the highest level. I am delighted to welcome them back.”

Riadh Gouider has been a Professor of Neurology since 2005. He has been the Head of the Department of Neurology at Razi Hospital in Tunisia for twenty years. He has an Elected Trustee of the World Federation of Neurology (WFN) the Regional Director in the WFN for the Pan African Union of Neurological Societies. He has received several awards (American Academy of Neurology 1994, JNLF 2013, Maghrebian Federation of Neurology, etc) and authored and co-authored more than 100 original papers and book chapters.

Marco Medina has been a Professor of Neurology since 1998 and currently serves as ex Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras in Tegucigalpa, where he has promoted neurological research in Honduras. He is the Regional Director for the WFN in Latin America through the Pan American Federation of Neurological Societies, an expert consultant at the WHO and worked on establishing the first Honduran Neurology training programme with the Honduran Neurological Association, the Honduran Ministry of Health, National Autonomous University of Honduras and World Federation of Neurology in 1998.
