Lord John Walton of DetchantIt is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lord Walton of Detchant.  The WFN fifth president 1990-1997. His contributions to World Neurology were immense.

There is no doubt that his legacy as Chair of the Steering Committee, First Vice President and President will be with us for many years to come.  His vitality and direction were most appreciated in addition to his personal friendship to neurologists across the world. John will be sorely missed.  His contributions to World congresses were crucial and as late as 2013 in Vienna his advice was most gracious and thoughtful.  He never lost his sparkle even in his nineties and I personally owe him a lot for standing by me during a difficult time and for giving  me utmost support and advice.

John was a real Geordie from the north of England and he never lost his touch as a man who had time for everyone young and old.  He had a phenomenal memory for the personal details of a huge number of neurologists from all parts of the world.

On behalf of the WFN, I wish to pass our deepest condolences and sympathy to his family.
