2026 Elections: WCN 2029 Candidate Statement: Argentina

Dear Members of the World Federation of Neurology, 

Buenos Aires candidate venue for the World Congress of Neurology in 2029.  Dear Members of the World Federation of Neurology,  On behalf of the Sociedad Neurológica Argentina (SNA), and with the support of the Buenos Aires Convention & Visitors Bureau, we are delighted to be considered as host of the World Congress of Neurology (WCN) 2029 in the City of Buenos Aires, Argentina. 

The Argentine neurological community, represented by the SNA, plays a central role in advancing  neurological  science,  education,  and  clinical  practice  in  the  country. Founded in 1952, the organization brings together neurologists from across  Argentina  and  promotes  the  development  of neurosciences through scientific exchange, professional education, research activities, and collaboration with national and international institutions. As a professional association affiliated with the global neurological community, the Society actively contributes to the advancement of neurological knowledge and training while fostering collaboration among specialists throughout the region. 

Working in close partnership with the World Federation of Neurology (WFN) and with local stakeholders, we can make a great event such as last time in 1997. The last time we host this big congress. 

Buenos Aires offers a highly suitable setting for an international Congress of the scale and prestige of the WCN. The city combines modern meeting infrastructure, a strong academic and medical community, and extensive experience in hosting large-scale international scientific and medical congresses, making it a natural hub for global knowledge exchange. 

The main proposed venue for the Congress is La Rural Predio Ferial de Buenos Aires, Buenos Aires, a prominent convention and exhibition center in Latin America. Located in distinguish district, it offers large multi-purpose halls capable of accommodating plenary sessions for several thousand delegates, along with numerous meeting rooms suitable for parallel scientific sessions. Their flexible infrastructure allows for configurations well suited to complex scientific programs. There are other potential sites that can also provide extensive exhibition areas ideal for industry participation, poster sessions, and networking activities.  

Buenos Aires offers more than 8.000 hotel rooms in four-star and five-star properties are located close to the proposed venues. Beyond its infrastructure and academic environment, Buenos Aires provides a unique cultural setting. It is internationally known for its architectural heritage, diverse cultural life, renowned gastronomy, and dynamic arts scene. With hundreds of theaters, museums, cultural venues, and bookstores, the city offers an exceptional cultural landscape shaped by a unique blend of European and Latin American influences.  

Finally, Buenos Aires serves as the perfect gateway to Argentina’s extraordinary natural and cultural diversity. Delegates can easily extend their stay to discover world-renowned destinations such as Patagonia, the Iguazú Falls, the Andes Mountains, and the wine regions of Mendoza. Combined with the city’s mild climate throughout much of the year, these elements make Buenos Aires an exceptionally attractive and welcoming destination for international visitors. 

For the Argentine neurological community and for the City of Buenos Aires, it would be a great honor  to  welcome  delegates  from  around  the  world  and  to  contribute  to  the  continued advancement of neurological science and global collaboration.
