Professor Smail Daoudi is the Head of the Neurology Department at Nedir Mohammed Teaching Hospital in Tizi Ouzou, Algeria. His work spans both clinical practice and academic research, particularly in the diagnosis and treatment of complex neurological conditions.
Professor Daoudi has contributed to important advances in neurological research through collaboration with national and international neurological societies, helping enhance understanding of neurological diseases and strengthen professional networks across the region. A prolific researcher, he has published numerous studies in peer-reviewed journals.
He previously served as Rector of Mouloud Mammeri University of Tizi Ouzou, where he promoted medical education and interdisciplinary collaboration. Among his notable achievements, he launched the PCR COVID unit at the university in 2019, founded a neuro-ophthalmology unit at the university hospital, and created the first Algerian and Maghrebian neuro-ophthalmology club.
In addition, he is President of the Scientific Council of the University Hospital, Vice President of the Algerian Society of Neurology and Neurophysiology (SANNC), coordinator of the inflammatory diseases committee, and a member of the rare diseases committee, with a focus on Fabry disease.
As an expert in inflammatory diseases of the central nervous system (CNS), he is also a member of MENACTRIMS (Middle East North Africa Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis).
Through his research, leadership, and collaboration with neurological societies, Professor Daoudi continues to contribute to the advancement of neurology in Algeria and internationally.
