Dr Mashina Chomba is a Consultant Neurologist and Faculty member in the department of Internal Medicine at the University Teaching Hospital/University of Zambia School of Medicine in Lusaka, Zambia. He is a researcher and teacher with special interest in Neuroinfectious diseases, Neuroimmunology and multiple sclerosis.
Dr Chomba is a graduate of the University of Zambia School of Medicine where he attained his medical degree and later his Master of Medicine degree in Neurology. He then completed a 1-year Columbia University Neuroinfectious Disease Clinical Research Fellowship in 2021. He was also a recipient of the MS international Federation Du Pre Award in 2021 and is one of the founding members of African Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (AFRICTRIMS).
He was one this year’s WFN/AAN Global Advocacy and Leadership Program (GALP) fellows and his goal is to contribute to the understanding of the epidemiology of neurological diseases in Zambia and Sub-Saharan Africa; and to help formulate innovations that will improve patient care in the region.
