Julien Razafimahefa (Madagascar)

Dr. Julien RAZAFIMAHEFA is a Malagasy physician specializing in neurology and internal medicine. He practices as a neurologist within the Neurology Department of the Joseph Raseta Befelatanana University Hospital (CHU) in Antananarivo, Madagascar. In addition to his clinical duties, he has held a dual role as a lecturer and researcher at the University of Antananarivo since 2010. His academic responsibilities include instructing students in the programs of human medicine and pharmacy. He further extends his pedagogical contributions as a visiting lecturer at the medical faculties of the universities in Toamasina and Antsiranana.

His primary research domain is neuroinfectious diseases, with a particular focus on neurocysticercosis. This work is conducted in collaboration with various national and international research institutes. His scientific interests also encompass neuroinflammatory and neurodegenerative diseases, broadening his investigative scope within clinical neuroscience.

Dr. Razafimahefa's medical and academic training was completed through several esteemed institutions. He studied at the University of Antananarivo in Madagascar, followed by specialized training at the University of Bordeaux and the University of Saint-Étienne in France.

He is an active member of several learned societies, reflecting his professional engagement at both national and international levels. Nationally, he belongs to the Malagasy Society of Neurology (SMNE), the Malagasy Society of Cardiology (SOMACAR), and the Infectious Diseases Society of Madagascar (SPIM). His international affiliations include the Movement Disorders Society (MDS), where he previously served on the Education Steering Committee, the African Academy of Neurology (AFAN), and the World Federation of Neurology (WFN).

As an established academic and clinician, Dr. Razafimahefa regularly participates in and contributes to the scientific community. He has attended numerous national and international scientific meetings and conferences. Furthermore, he has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed scientific publications, disseminating his research findings within the global medical literature.
