Suvarna Alladi

Suvarna Alladi is Professor of Neurology, National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences, Bangalore, India.

Dr Alladi’s areas of interest are Alzheimer’s Disease, Frontotemporal dementia, and vascular cognitive impairment. To address dementia diagnosis in diverse linguistic, cultural and educational contexts, Dr Alladi harmonised cognitive assessment across different Indian languages and for variable literacy levels.

She focuses on investigating influence of life-course experiences that include bilingualism and education on cognitive resilience. In the background of a rising burden of dementia, she founded an NGO www.ardsihyd.org to organise community support for dementias.

Dr Alladi was the founding member and secretary of the Cognitive Neurology Subsection of Indian Academy of Neurology. Dr Alladi has also represents priorities of dementia in underserved societies in international platforms.

She is Chair of World Federation of Neurology, Special interest group on Aphasia, Dementia and Cognitive disorders.

Dr Alladi is the Senior Researcher from India on the multinational project Strengthening Responses to Dementia in Developing Countries (stride-dementia.org) and Advisory Council member for ISTAART, Alzheimer’s Association.
