At the WFN Annual General Meeting held on 25 September 2024, a proposal was introduced to amend Article 7 of the WFN Articles of Association. This article outlines how officers of the organization are appointed. The proposed changes aim to enhance operational continuity and ensure smoother leadership transitions when new Presidents and Vice-Presidents are elected and includes:
- Establishing a President-Elect role;
- Allowing the Immediate Past President to remain for one additional year as an advisor; and
- Tightening the eligibility criteria of candidates for the presidency.
These changes require an amendment (special resolution) to the wording of Article 7 in the byelaws. and now requires formal approval under UK company law.
A notice of the Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) being held on 1 July 2025 at 12:00 UTC (London time), including details of the proposed changes, has been sent to all Member Societies. The special resolution will be put to a vote at this meeting.
