In Memoriam Prof. Johan Aarli

We received the sad news that Professor Aarli, president of the WFN between 2006-2009, has died on Friday 24 March 2023.

Prof Aarli was an eminent neuroscientist, mentor, and teacher, and was involved in international neurology in Europe and in the WFN for many years. During his presidency, many new activities were initiated, notably the strong commitment to Africa was initiated and other worldwide activities. He also left us an invaluable history of the WFN, which is a unique summary of the development and activities of the WFN.

Prof. Aarli was a mentor for many, and his quiet and efficient way to listen, discuss, and decide will be remembered by all who worked with him. We wish his family, and his wife, who often joined his travels, our condolences on this loss.
