Professor Richard Stark

Richard Stark graduated from Monash University (top student) and trained at the Alfred Hospital, Melbourne, The London Hospital and the National Hospitals for Nervous Diseases, Queen Square, in London.

He is Adjunct Clinical Professor, Department of Neuroscience, Monash University and Neurologist at the Alfred Hospital.

His major area of clinical interest has been headache: the headache clinic at the Alfred is now the largest in Australia and many young Australian headache specialists have trained there.

He has published extensively on clinical aspects of migraine management.

He is passionate about teaching, especially clinical skills. He has been Chair of the WCN Tournament Committee

He is elected Treasurer and Trustee of the World Federation of Neurology and is Immediate Past President of the Australia New Zealand Headache Society.  

He was awarded the E Graham Robertson Award for services to Neuroscience and to ANZAN in 2009, the ANZAN Medal for services to Neurology and to ANZAN in 2012 and was the 2022 Noshir Wadia Orator at the AOCN/IAN meeting.

He was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for service to neurology and professional organizations in June 2019.
