Professor Raad Shakir, former WFN President, has been named as Commander of the British Empire (CBE) on the Queen's New Year honours list 2021 for his "services to global neurology".
The Honours’ list recognises the achievements and services of extraordinary people across the United Kingdom. CBE is the highest-ranking level of the most excellent Order of the British Empire, and are awarded to individuals in recognition of achievements over and above their ordinary work.
We are delighted that Professor Shakir has been recognised for his work for Global Neurology, which clearly implies that among other activities, his long service to the WFN as Secretary-Treasurer General and President are perhaps the main basis for this award.
