On September 14, join neurology and movement disorder experts at MDS Virtual Congress 2020 for a media event to discuss global Parkinson's Disease awareness

London, September, 14 2020 — The World Federation of Neurology (WFN) and the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society (MDS) are hosting a joint media event at the MDS Virtual Congress 2020 to discuss the need for global awareness of Parkinson’s Disease. The press conference takes place on September 14, 2020, at 9 a.m. CT. It is free to attend and open to the media and conference attendees.

The impact of Parkinson's Disease extends through the whole body and reaches every corner of the world.

Although we cannot meet in person to dive further into Parkinson's Disease awareness because of COVID-19, the profound need to improve standards of care across the globe is still present, and this vital discussion with our partners from around the world will highlight that need.
Claudia Trenkwalder, MD, President of the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society

The press conference will highlight critical areas of need specific to Parkinson’s Disease advocacy and awareness, including disease prevalence, ways to improve the global standard of care and the research needed to unlock the cause, onset, progression and treatment of the disease across all ages. It will also include a live Q&A with leaders in the field of neurology from around the world. Registration is available at https://register.gotowebinar.com/#register/6132601280074665227 and is limited to the first 3,000 participants.

The discussion comes at the heels of World Brain Day, where the two organizations joined forces to raise awareness for Parkinson’s Disease.

During World Brain Day in July, MDS and WFN came together to create more awareness for Parkinson's Disease, and the whole world paid attention,

This press conference is the culmination of our efforts, bringing together experts from all over the world to discuss the vast impact of Parkinson's Disease and the seven million people of all ages worldwide that it affects.
