Physical health in people with intellectual disability: Current perspectives and future directions (Webinar)

This webinar seeks to raise awareness of the physical health needs of people with intellectual disability as well as explore key determinants of health inequities. This is an opportunity to review new ideas and initiatives that aim to improve the quality of healthcare for this group.

Join us to hear from a multidisciplinary expert panel as they review major physical health conditions that people with intellectual disability experience. Participants will be able to reflect on causes of health inequities, including those exposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. You'll also hear about the latest research in the field as well as practical, service-level interventions that can improve the care that people with intellectual disability receive.

During this session, interact with our experts in a panel discussion with plenty of opportunities to ask them questions and ensure that you gain a rich learning experience from this webinar.

Learning objectives for this webinar includes:

  • Describe some of the common co-occurring health conditions that people with intellectual disability experience
  • Understand the source of health inequities and the current care landscape for people with intellectual disability
  • Explore key concepts relevant to the lives and health of people with a learning disability including frailty and polypharmacy
  • Review real-world practice innovations that have been established to improve healthcare for people with intellectual disability and understand the value of co-production in developing effective services

This webinar will be relevant for general practitioners, psychiatrists, neurologists, elderly care physicians/gerontologists, pharmacists, nurses, social care providers, and anyone with an interest in improving healthcare for people with intellectual disabilities.

A CPD certificate with 5 CPD credits will be issued to those joining the webinar live as well as those who watch the recording afterwards. Certificates will be issued 7 days after the webinar to those who watch it live and after 30 days for those that watch the recording. 

Registration for this webinar will close 2 hours prior to the start time. You will receive the webinar link 2 hours before the meeting. Late registrations will not be accepted.
