WFN Meritorious Service Awards: Keith Newton

Keith Newton is a graduate of the Faculty of Business Administration of the University of Strathclyde, Scotland. He trained initially as a civil servant at the Department of Trade and Industry in London, then joined the Medical Research Council where he stayed for 7 years doing a variety of jobs at their headquarters office.

In 1985 he moved to the Royal Society of Medicine to take up the post of Assistant to the Executive Director. He also acted as Director of External Relations, ran the Membership Department and worked closely with each RSM President and the Honorary Officers over a period of 10 years.

He then spent two years as Administrator of the Physiological Society before being recruited to the WFN in 1998, by Lord Walton and Dr Frank Clifford Rose, where he remained for the rest of his career as Administrator; Executive Director; Assistant Editor of World Neurology; and Consultant.
