The ASOC is the first dedicated cross-national annual scientific forum focused on cerebrovascular disease in Africa, with the overarching goal of bringing together key stakeholders, identifying gaps in knowledge, setting priorities for stroke prevention, care delivery and research, and accelerating translation of research findings to improve stroke outcomes in the region. 
 
ASOC is supported by the African Stroke Organization and the National Institutes for Neurological Disorders and Stroke with collaborative input from several international organizations.
