A new study highlights how long-term stroke care strategies can help protect cognitive function in stroke survivors, reinforcing the importance of ongoing management beyond the acute phase. While cognitive impairment remains common after stroke, the findings show that targeted treatment approaches can significantly reduce this risk. A new study explores glymphatic system dysfunction in children with pediatric acquired demyelinating syndromes (PADS), highlighting a potential but under-recognised mechanism in neurological disease. While disruptions to the brain’s waste clearance system have been identified in adults, their role in paediatric cases has remained largely unclear. Vol. 485, June 2026 now available This study explores the neurological mechanisms behind “brain fog” and other cognitive symptoms associated with Long COVID by analysing brain imaging and blood biomarkers in affected patients. The course significantly improved participants’ confidence and performance in stroke triage, communication, clinical assessment, and treatment decision-making. Up to half of patients with large vessel occlusion (LVO) stroke experience futile recanalisation (FR) despite successful mechanical thrombectomy (MT).
