WFN – Indian Academy of Neurology (IAN): Department Visit Program in India 2023

The World Federation of Neurology (WFN) and the Indian Academy of Neurology (IAN) are pleased to announce their partnership to invite two Asian Oceanian colleagues to visit the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, India.

The WFN was formed in Brussels in 1957 as an association of national neurological societies. Today the WFN represents 123 professional societies in 123 countries in all regions of the world. The mission of the WFN is to foster quality neurology and brain health worldwide, a goal we seek to achieve by promoting global neurological education and training, with the emphasis placed firmly on under-resourced parts of the world.

The IAN (www.ianindia.org ⧉ ) was founded in 1994 and currently has more than 2,000 members. The IAN represents scientific and professional interests: further education, the interchange of ideas, science, and the interests of patients.v

Project description

The IAN would like to support by invite two colleagues from Asian Low or Lower-Middle income countries to visit the Department of Neurology, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, India for duration of four weeks. The purpose is to experience the Indian medical system in an international environment, meet new colleagues, and foster future cooperation.

Timeframe

The visit can take place for 4 weeks in October/ November 2023 depending upon availability from the host institute

Details about support

The Indian Academy of Neurology (IAN) will provide the following support:

• Travel expenses applicant country (Asia Oceania region) – India – applicant country (Asia Oceania region), economy class (INR 50,000, approx.)
• Accommodation for four weeks
• Living expenses (food and beverage) during the four weeks (INR 50,000, approx.)
• Costs of health insurance during the stay in India
• Visa application costs (INR 50,000, approx.)

Criteria for applications

The applicant must reside in a low or lower-middle income country in the Asian Oceanian continent. The following countries are eligible:

• The applicant must be a resident of a low or lower-middle income country in the African continent
• The applicant must be born after 31 December 1981
• The applicant must be a qualified neurologist.
